Gov't to write off COVID-19 fines for nearly two thousand individuals

“Today, the government is considering a draft decree to write off fines imposed on up to 2,000 of our citizens during the COVID-19 pandemic,” announced Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze at today’s government meeting.

According to Kobakhidze, 1,855 individuals and 38 legal entities will be exempted from fines.

“For several years, our citizens have been facing fines, which, in our opinion, would be completely unreasonable to uphold today. Therefore, the government will decide on the cancellation of these fines at today’s meeting. The Ministry of Health prepared the proposal. A total of 1,855 individuals and 38 legal entities will be exempted from fines, amounting to approximately GEL 5.6 million. This decision will be discussed today,” said Irakli Kobakhidze.
