Gov't to allocate €475 Million for Tbilisi Metro carriage renovation

In a meeting with Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze and Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili, the Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has announced the allocation of €475 million from the state budget for the comprehensive renovation of the Tbilisi metro carriages.

The meeting reviewed project details and future steps.

According to Tbilisi Mayor, the project outlines the purchase of 212 modern metro wagons meeting international standards, set to replace outdated trains gradually over the next 15 years. Kakha Kaladze specified that these 212 wagons amount to a total of 45 trains.

As part of the project, the Saburtalo line will be served by 13 four-car trains, while the Akhmeteli-Varketili line will have 32 five-car trains.

Kaladze thanked the Georgian government and Prime Minister Garibashvili for fully financing the project from the state budget.
