The Orthodox Church marks Good (Red) Friday today, commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus and his death at Calvary (Golgotha).

The Divine Liturgy is never celebrated on Good Friday as this day is the hardest of fasting days among those of Holy Week that precede Easter Sunday.

This day is celebrated by painting eggs crimson (a symbol of the Resurrection) and making Paska, a traditional Easter bread.
