“Saying that we head to Russia in an occupied country was inconvenient for the Georgian Dream. Therefore, it thought of absurd, to China with dignity,” said Iago Khvichia, leader of the parliamentary Girchi party.

According to Iago Khvichia, heading toward China has never been attractive for Georgia.

“Forward with dignity to China, it sounds ridiculous for a Georgian. We may be told to move forward with everything, but moving forward with dignity to China has never been an attractive message in Georgia. Communists used to do this, and Georgian poets wrote poems about China on the order of communists, but this is a bit unrealistic today. All these are pre-election stunts. It was embarrassing to say that we were heading for Russia in an occupied country, so the Georgian Dream came up with an absurd idea and said, with dignity to China. Georgian people do not follow this. It is even more wrong to lead the country towards China than towards Russia to think that society will follow you in this,” Khvichia said.
