Girchi party urges GD to uphold opposition mandates

The opposition Girchi party announced their MPs would request mandate termination in case if the ruling Georgian Dream annuls fifty-one opposition MPs mandates, the party announced on Monday.

“The termination of parliamentary authority to fifty-one members of the opposition will make the negotiation process meaningless, deepen the crisis and possibly make the process irreversible,” Girchi stressed.

The Parliament will discuss the termination of parliamentary authority to fifty-one members of the opposition on February 2.

Parliament Vice-Speaker Davit Sergeenko said he would not back the issue to give the opposition members another chance.

Fifty-one opposition MPs refused to enter the Parliament as they believe elections were a fraud.

Earlier, Parliament terminated the parliamentary authority for the Alliance of Patriots members Irma Inashvili, Giorgi Lomia, and Gocha Tevdoradze. However, other members on the party list, Fridon Injia, Gela Mikadze, and Davit Zilpimiani, took up those seats by replacement.
