Girchi party: Saakashvili and UNM not to be banned from Georgian politics

“The Georgian Dream has introduced a plan to ban Mikheil Saakashvili and his party. I believe that Mikheil Saakashvili and the United National Movement should not be halted from Georgian politics,” Girchi leader Iago Khvichia said after a meeting between the opposition and the ruling party.

According to him, the Georgian Dream presented an outline to ban Mikheil Saakashvili and his party, which caused an uproar at the meeting.

“Everything was going well all day long. Opposition and the government managed to agree on most of the issues. Suddenly, GD introduced a plan on how to ban Mikheil Saakashvili and his party. That caused a stir. I am the organizer of the tumult. I believe Mikheil Saakashvili and the United National Movement should not be banned from Georgian politics. The more people participate, the more competition will be, which means better quality,” Khvichia said.
