Girchi disagrees with 80% of clauses in President's Georgian Charter, says context is vague
“We do not understand the Georgian Charter’s context and disagree with 80% of its clauses. We read any document before we sign it. However, it has no big significance for our colleagues what they sign,” said Iago Khvichia, leader of the parliamentary Girchi party.
According to Iago Khvichia, the Georgian Charter may only help staffing elections by signatories.
“No matter be it one long list or two lists, I don’t know. However, the only legitimate purpose the Charter might have is to influence the staffing of election lists. If there is no influence, nobody will remember this Charter and even the signatories will forget about it,” he said.
Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili presented the action plan, the Georgian Charter, to the political parties on May 26.
The President’s Administration, on June 3, published the list of signatories to the Georgian Charter. Seventeen political parties and independent MPs signed it.
