Giorgi Kobulia – If anyone wants to argue that people faced less poverty during National Movement in power, it is false
“I did not say that people do not face poverty, they are in much need but not more than during the rule of National Movement – Giorgi Kobulia, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development said during the presentation of the annual report at the sitting of the Parliamentary Committee of Branch Economy and Economic Policy.
Kobulia was asked questions regarding his statement made several days ago. Minister of Economy clarified that those in need are not at ease with the circumstance that they are not in poverty as they were yesterday. “Speculation that people faced less poverty during National Movement being in power, is a lie,” Minister stated.
According to Kobulia, struggle with poverty is the biggest challenge for the government and the number one goal. Kobulia said that poverty level was 40% in 2010, while in 2018 the parameter was fixed at 20%. “Poverty was reduced by half. However, we need higher speed for eradication of poverty,” Kobulia stated.
