Giorgi Giorgadze: Russian Chess Federation apologizes for misunderstanding

Georgian Chess Federation has released a special statement today. The statement says that delegation from Russia, in particular from Khanty Mansiysk, distributed gift bags in which little maps were placed, on which Georgia was depicted without Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions.

Giorgi Giorgadze, the President of the Georgian Chess Federation made a comment with the First Channel on the abovementioned issue.

“As soon as we learned it, we got in touch with the Russian Chess Federation and demanded the explanation. They apologized for this misunderstanding and said that this was a mechanical error. They promised to find out whose fault it was – printing house or customer. They have already ordered new maps which will be distributed again”, – Giorgadze said.

Representatives of the Russian Chess Federation, who are attending current Chess Olympiad in Batumi, are planning to make a statement at Sheraton hotel today.
