Giorgi Gakharia: Uncultivated land should not remain in the country
The agrarian process should not be stopped in the country for a single day and there should be no uncultivated land left, – the Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Gakharia stated at the presentation of the anti-crisis plan in the field of agriculture.
According to Giorgi Gakharia, today all farmers in Georgia, whose number is 42 thousand, will be completely exempted from irrigation fees, they will have free irrigation water during 2020.
At the same time, I would like to inform you that for every farmer who needs to buy equipment, organize a greenhouse or an irrigation system, the state will make direct financial assistance, and cover 50 percent of the cost of this work. It will be a grant”, – said Giorgi Gakharia.
According to the Prime Minister, these programs will be launched on May 20.
He said the program includes other aids, 200,000 farmers will benefit in the country. The total budget for the assistance will be 300 million GEL.
