Giorgi Chaladze, a member of the opposition United National Movement (UNM), announced his withdrawal from the party’s leadership campaign.
Chaladze stated that ex-President Mikheil Saakashvili’s case required “entire attention,” while other issues, such as the formation of a headquarter for Saakashvili’s release or the establishment of structural units, were of secondary importance.
“There should be a broad consensus. We need the processes for President Saakashvili alone and no one else,” Chaladze stated, expressing optimism that the party, with all of its resources, would join him in rescuing the former president.
Giorgi Chaladze announced on November 11 on social media that he will run for the role of the UNM chair.
