Gigi Ugulava - Today, when elections are to be held in approximated proportional system, unified list is unrealizable

Gigi Ugulava, one of the Leaders of European Georgia Party said that he had the idea about united election list of the opposition several weeks before his arrest.

However, as Ugulava wrote in social network Facebook, the idea of a united election list turned to be skeptical even for National Movement Party.

“Today, when elections are to be held in approximated proportional system (120/30), the unified list is unrealizable,” Ugulava said. He said he hoped that the willingness for more integration would not become a reason to disrupt the already reached unity over Majoritarians (single mandate) candidates.

Former President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili called on the opposition parties to make a joint electoral list for 2020 parliamentary elections in Georgia. Saakashvili said that places in the list had to be distributed based on rating of political parties.
