“Excellent conversation indeed – impressed with the continued determination and sense of urgency to press on with the European path!” Gert Jan Koopman, the European Commission’s Director-General of Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations, echoed the Twitter post of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Ilia Darchiashvili, published after their phone conversation.

“Had a very good conversation with the European Commission’s Director-General of the Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations, Gert Jan Koopman. We reviewed Georgia’s efforts and progress on the EU path, once again welcomed the EU Commission’s recommendation to grant our country candidate status and agreed to continue active cooperation,” Georgian FM tweeted.
