German Parliament President to visit Georgia

President of the German Parliament, Bärbel Bas, will visit Georgia on July 10-12 at the invitation of Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili, the German Embassy in Georgia reported.

Bärbel Bas will meet Shalva Papuashvili, President Salome Zourabichvili and Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili.

The visit aims at further deepening of Germany-Georgia cooperation.

“Bärbel Bas will pay a visit at the key moment for Georgia. Georgia officially applied for EU membership, and talks will be held around further steps to reach the goal. The situation in Georgia and the South Caucasus amid Russian military aggression in Ukraine will be also discussed,” the Embassy said.

The President of the German Parliament will visit the Administrative Boundary Line (ABL) in the occupied Tskhinvali region. The briefing of the European Union Monitoring Mission (EUMM) is also scheduled within the framework of the visit.
