German Embassy: Today, we share pain and sorrow of Georgian People

“September 27 is a day that unites generations. There are dates that are deeply etched in the memory of an entire country, and September 27 is such a day for Georgia,” the German Embassy in Georgia said in a social media post.

According to the Embassy, 33 years after the fall of Sokhumi, the pain of a lost homeland, shattered lives and the loss of loved ones is still felt in many families, including by a generation that had not yet been born at the time.

“Today, we share the pain and sorrow of the Georgian people. Germany continues to stand firmly and unwaveringly by Georgia and supports its sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders. May the memory of this day make us even stronger so that we can work tirelessly for dialogue, sustainable peace and a European future in which reconciliation will be possible,” the statement said.
