German Ambassador pays tribute at April 9 Memorial

German Ambassador to Georgia, Peter Fischer, visited the April 9 Memorial on Rustaveli Avenue to honor those who died during the 1989 tragedy.

“This day represents freedom and independence for Georgia. The events of April 9, 1989, occurred just six months before the fall of the Berlin Wall, linking Georgia and Germany, and resonating with the world. Looking at today’s world, it is clear that the protection of freedom and independence remains both vital and essential.

I came here to support Georgia’s freedom and independence, and to pay tribute to those who lost their lives,” Fischer emphasized.

This year marks 37 years since the April 9 tragedy.
