Geostat reports over 50% decrease in Georgian emigrants compared to last year

According to the National Statistics Service (Geostat), the number of Georgian emigrants in 2024 totalled 121,425, representing a decline of 50.5% compared to the previous year. In parallel, immigration figures also saw a significant drop, with the number of immigrants decreasing by 34.0% to reach 135,811.

During this period, the majority of both immigrants and emigrants were of working age, with 85.6% of immigrants and 85.8% of emigrants falling within the 15-64 age group.

Geostat further revealed that in 2024, 48.2% of immigrants and 53.2% of emigrants were Georgian citizens.
