Geostat: Milk and meat production decline in Q2 2025, egg production rises

Preliminary data from the National Statistics Service of Georgia (Geostat) indicate that, by the end of the second quarter of 2025, cattle numbers had decreased by 2.0 per cent year-on-year to 870,500. The total sheep and goat population stood at 398,800, reflecting a 4.8 per cent decline compared to the previous year.

Pork numbers declined by 12.5 per cent to 175,600, while poultry numbers increased by 6.6 per cent, reaching 11.1 million birds.

According to Geostat, milk production in the second quarter of 2025 amounted to 184.0 million litres, a 1.1 per cent decrease from the same period last year.

Meat production fell by 9.5 per cent, totalling 18,200 tonnes.

Conversely, egg production rose by 6.6 per cent, with 179.7 million eggs produced during the period.
