Geostat: Georgian business sector turnover reaches GEL 253.7 billion in 2025
According to the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat), the turnover of the business sector increased by 11.1% year-on-year in 2025, reaching GEL 253.7 billion.
According to Geostat, the value of output produced by the business sector also recorded growth. In 2025, total output amounted to GEL 99.9 billion, 10.3% higher than in 2024.
According to the agency’s report, large businesses accounted for 68.2% of total business-sector turnover in 2025, while medium-sized businesses accounted for 15.8% and small businesses for 16.1%.
The distribution was different in terms of total output. Large businesses accounted for 45.8% of output, medium-sized businesses for 26.2%, and small businesses for 28.0%.
In 2025, enterprises purchased a total of GEL 123.5 billion worth of goods and services, 7.6% more than in 2024. Purchases of goods and services intended for resale amounted to GEL 76.4 billion, an increase of 7.0% year-on-year.
The average number of people employed in the business sector stood at 899,000 in 2025, 3.8% higher than the previous year. Women accounted for 43.8% of total employment, while men accounted for 56.2%.
Large businesses accounted for 39.4% of total employment, medium-sized businesses for 19.7%, and small businesses for 40.9%.
During the reporting period, the total number of employees receiving wages stood at 827,200, up 3.2% compared with 2024. Enterprises’ total personnel expenses amounted to GEL 22.3 billion, 12.2% higher than the figure recorded in 2024.
According to Geostat, the average monthly salary of employees in the business sector reached GEL 2,198.4 in 2025, an increase of GEL 173.9 compared with 2024. The average monthly salary of women stood at GEL 1,712.8.
By enterprise size, the average monthly salary was GEL 2,497.3 in large businesses, GEL 2,755.6 in medium-sized businesses, and GEL 1,507.4 in small businesses.
According to the agency’s report, the largest share of business-sector turnover in 2025 came from the arts, entertainment and recreation sector, accounting for 35.5%. Wholesale and retail trade ranked second with a 33.6% share, followed by manufacturing at 7.7%, construction at 6.1%, and transportation and storage at 4.6%. The remaining sectors accounted for 13.0% of total turnover.
In terms of business-sector output in 2025, manufacturing ranked first with an 18.8% share, followed by trade with 18.5% and construction with 18.1%. Transportation and storage accounted for 9.3%, information and communication for 7.6%, while all other sectors jointly accounted for 27.7%.
In terms of employment, the trade, manufacturing, and human health and social work sectors had the largest shares in 2025, accounting for 29.5%, 11.0% and 9.1%, respectively.
Significant shares of employment were also recorded in transportation and storage at 8.6%, construction at 7.8%, information and communication at 6.0%, and accommodation and food service activities at 5.4%.
