GeoStat: FDI in Georgia falls 23.2% to USD 468.8m in Q2 2026
Georgia’s Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) dropped 23.2% year-on-year to USD 468.8 million in the second quarter of 2026, according to preliminary data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GeoStat). The decline is measured against adjusted figures from the same period in 2025.
GeoStat attributed the contraction primarily to a reduction in reinvested earnings. According to the agency’s report, equity capital reached USD 210.5 million in Q2 2026, accounting for 44.9% of total FDI inflows.
Reinvestment totalled USD 300.5 million, representing a 64.1% share of overall foreign investment. Preliminary figures for Q2 2026 position China as Georgia’s largest foreign investor, contributing USD 219.5 million (46.8% of total FDI). The United Kingdom ranked second with USD 123.5 million (26.3%), followed by the United Arab Emirates in third place with USD 47.7 million (10.2%). Together, the top three investor countries accounted for 83.3% of total FDI inflows.
By sector, the financial and insurance activities domain attracted the largest share of foreign capital in Q2 2026, reaching USD 207.6 million (44.3%). Real estate accounted for the second-largest share at USD 119.9 million (25.6%), followed by manufacturing at USD 59.0 million (12.6%). The top three economic sectors combined accounted for 82.4% of all Foreign Direct Investment recorded during the quarter.
