Geostat: Agricultural product costs up 12.8% in Q2 2025

According to the National Statistics Service, in the second quarter of 2025, the unit cost index of agricultural production decreased by 2.0 percent compared to the previous quarter.

Geostat reports that this decline was mainly driven by a 7.3 percent decrease in the cost of live animals and animal products, which contributed -4.08 percentage points to the overall change in the index.

However, compared to the same quarter of the previous year, the unit cost index of agricultural production increased by 12.8 percent. This annual increase was largely due to a 20.1 percent rise in the cost of live animals and animal products, contributing 9.11 percentage points to the total index. During the same period, the value of perennial crops fell by 10.6 percent, while the value of annual crops rose by 37.8 percent, contributing -4.11 and 7.82 percentage points, respectively, to the change in the overall index.
