Georgia's President stresses EU accession as essential for security at Munich panel
The President of Georgia, Salome Zourabichvili, emphasized the necessity of Georgia’s accession to the European Union (EU) during a panel discussion in Munich.
She stated that EU membership is essential for Georgia’s security and represents the only perspective for a country sharing European values.
“Georgia’s accession to the EU is essential; it is a security necessity and the only perspective for the country,” the President added.
Zourabichvili highlighted the common security interests of the EU and the importance of preventing Russia from becoming an exclusive power in the Black Sea. She drew attention to the security value added by the EU’s previous enlargements and emphasized the need for solidarity and shared values in addressing common security challenges.
The President also stressed the importance of preventing Russia’s dominance in the Black Sea for future connectivity, transport, and energy security.
