Georgia's President declares October 4, 2025, as date for local government elections

In a presidential decree issued by Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili, the date for the upcoming local government elections has been set for October 4, 2025.

According to the presidential administration, the decree was signed by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.

“Under Article 52, Paragraph 1, Subparagraph ‘c’ of the Constitution of Georgia, as well as Article 133, Paragraphs 1 and 2 of the Organic Law of Georgia, Election Code of Georgia, the next elections for the municipal representative body, the Sakrebulo (city council), and the mayor of the self-governing city or community shall be held on October 4, 2025,” the decree states (Decree of the President of Georgia No. 05/08/01).
