The Parliament is about to discuss Georgia’s Labor Code which envisages equal pay for women and men. The employer is obliged to provide equal remuneration for men and women for equal work.
With regard to harassment in the workplace, the initiative outlines that harassment, including sexual harassment, is a form of discrimination when the abuse intends or causes to do harm to a person’s dignity, creates a frightening, hostile, degrading, or abusive environment.
According to the law, sexual misconduct includes saying sexual phrases, showing genitalia, or other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature.
The law also prohibits the termination of an employment contract if an employee complains about discrimination and takes legal actions.
