Georgian Minister of Internal Affairs, Vakhtang Gomelauri, held an introductory meeting with Dimitrios Karabalis, the new Head of the EU Monitoring Mission (EUMM).
During the meeting, Gomelauri congratulated Karabalis on his appointment and expressed the importance of EUMM’s role in the region adjacent to the occupation line.
The sides discussed the issue of unlawful detentions of citizens living near the occupied territories, highlighting the significance of EU support in addressing the ongoing ‘borderization’ process by Russia.
The meeting concluded with discussions about deepening cooperation.
