Georgia marks its Independence Day on May 26 with various events planned across the nation.
On this day, recruits of the Georgian Defence Forces took their oath in several cities across the nation.
The oath-taking ceremony was held in Tbilisi, on Freedom Square as well as at Bethania Monastery, Didgori Battle Memorial, Katsakhi Monastery, Gergeti Monastery and Samtavro Monastery.
The President, the Prime Minister, the Parliament Speaker and the Defence Minister addressed the official ceremony at Freedom Square.
The festive events will conclude with a gala concert, with A Story about Georgia as its main topic. This year’s gala concert program is dedicated to full folklore, featuring about 1,000 representatives of folklore ensembles from every corner of Georgia.
Organized by the Government Administration, events celebrating Independence Day will be held in 18 Georgian cities.
