Georgia’s Fencing Federation files complaint over alleged referee injustice against Sandro Bazadze
The Fencing Federation of Georgia has issued a statement concerning allegations that referees unfairly treated Sandro Bazadze during his match at the Paris Olympics. According to many in the public and those knowledgeable in fencing, Bazadze was subjected to unfair officiating, which significantly impacted the outcome of his match.
The Federation and fencing experts believe that not only the final decisive point but also five other valid strikes made by Bazadze were wrongly awarded to his opponent. In response, the Federation has prepared and sent a letter of complaint to the President of the International Fencing Federation Referee Commission.
The letter outlines all the incidents that suggest Bazadze was treated unjustly during his match. Bazadze lost narrowly with a score of 14:15 to his Egyptian opponent in the 1/8 final due to what is considered a controversial referee decision.
