Georgia’s Deputy Agriculture Minister elected chair of GCF’s Ethics and Audit Committee

Nino Tandilashvili, First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, has been elected as Chair of the Ethics and Audit Committee of the Green Climate Fund (GCF). Tandilashvili succeeds the representative from France in this key leadership role.

According to the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, the First Deputy Minister expressed her gratitude to her predecessor for their service, and to the committee members for supporting and electing her to the position.

The Ethics and Audit Committee is a standing body of the Green Climate Fund responsible for overseeing adherence to ethics and conflict-of-interest policies, exercising financial oversight, monitoring internal audit processes, and formulating relevant policy recommendations. The committee comprises representatives from both developed and developing nations who serve on the GCF Board. Tandilashvili represents Eastern European nations on the Board of Directors.

“The election of a Georgian representative to chair one of the Green Climate Fund’s core committees marks another major milestone in bolstering our nation’s international standing within the global climate change agenda,” the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture stated in its announcement.

Established in 2010 under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the Green Climate Fund (GCF) is one of the world’s largest international financial mechanisms dedicated to supporting developing countries in their climate mitigation and adaptation efforts.
