On March 28, 2018, debates will be held at United Nations Security Council (UNSC) in New York at the initiative of Netherlands on topic: Collective Action to Improve United Nations Peacekeeping Operations.
According to Foreign Affairs Ministry of Georgia, Georgian permanent representation to the UN will take part in open debates. The Georgian side will stress on the importance of peacekeeping operations in global security and changes in coping of facing challenges.
The Georgian delegation will talk about its experience when UNOMIG mission was stopped in 2009 that became a dangerous precedent in the history.
The focus will be made on the current situation across Georgia’s occupied regions and murder case of Archil Tatunashvili, Georgian soldier who died in occupied Tskhinvali region.
