Georgian sailors abducted from ship near Gabon released

Georgian sailors, abducted from a ship anchored in Gabonese territorial waters on the night of 2 May, have been released thanks to the efforts of the Georgian consulate in the South African Republic and the Maritime Transport Agency, the Georgian Foreign Ministry reported on Sunday.

“The sailors are undergoing medical examinations in Nigeria and their health is satisfactory, they will return to their homeland in the coming days,” the Georgian MFA added.
