Georgian Reconciliation Minister: Moves by Russia impede conflict settlement
“The annexation moves by Russia hinder reconciliation and block Georgia’s efforts to develop relations with locals,” Georgian Minister for Reconciliation and Civil Equality, Tea Akhvlediani, said during an annual report presentation on Wednesday.
“Along with gross violations of fundamental human rights and ethnic discrimination, unprecedented restrictions on free movement left the population in complete isolation and created a humanitarian crisis, having affected occupied Akhalgori in South Ossetia,” Akhvlediani noted.
The occupation regime continued the so-called borderization and illegal detentions amid pandemic, putting out citizens behind bars.
In a bid to prevent the occupation regime’s unlawful actions, the Georgian government will continue intense work with international partners,” Akhvlediani stressed.
