Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili on Monday arrived at the Mukhatgvedi Brothers’ Cemetery to pay her respects to those who lost their lives defending Georgia’s territorial integrity during the Russia-Georgia War in August 2008.
She said she had attended funeral services in Svetitskhovli for Racha landslide victims as well as for those who died for Georgia in the 2008 war.
“We have an opponent who is battling us—sometimes with war, sometimes with soft power—and this requires our cooperation. The raging environment also opposes us, and we must band together to resist it. If we want independence, if we want a state, we must come to our senses, identify our shared threat, and fight together, not against one other,” she added.
