Georgian President to sign request on convening extraordinary session on Ukrainian developments
President of Georgia Salome Zourabichvili will sign a request to convene an extraordinary parliamentary session on Ukrainian developments. President stated at a briefing earlier this afternoon.
“We’ve received a request to convene an extraordinary session. I am going to sign it,” President declared. Representatives of several political parties addressed the President with the aforementioned request.
President also expresses readiness to represent Georgia in all formats where the issue of Ukraine to be discussed.
“The voice of Georgia should be heard on an international level. We have been and will always be on the side of trying to find a peaceful way, but on the side of upholding principles”, Zourabichvili said.
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the start of a military operation in Donbas on Thursday. Missile strikes and explosions have been reported in several parts of Ukraine, including Kyiv. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky declared martial law.
