Georgian President meets EU's Charles Fries

Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili on Wednesday met with Charles Fries, Deputy SG for Common Security and Defense Policy and Crisis Response at EEAS, at Orbeliani Palace.

According to the President’s press office, the sides discussed Europe’s role in regional stability, Georgia’s importance as a corridor, and the Russian aggression against Ukraine.

During the meeting, the President condemned Russian aggression against Ukraine, attacks on civilians as well as energy infrastructure.

In his remarks, Charles Fries praised the Georgian government’s humanitarian policy toward Russia-occupied territories of Georgia.

The discussion also focused on the process of implementing the EC recommendations. Charles Fries emphasised the need of continuing the reform process, which should be inclusive, reads the press statement.
