Georgian President meets Azerbaijani PM

Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili on Thursday met with Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov.

According to the President’s press office, Zourabichvili welcomed Asadov’s official visit to Georgia and expressed hope that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev would also visit the country soon.

The duo noted that amid current regional and global developments, “friendly, partnership relations between Georgia and Azerbaijan are becoming increasingly important.”

The Georgian President emphasized that “such a favorable growth in bilateral ties offers a stronger base for further partnership engagement.” “Relations between Georgia and Azerbaijan are founded on the principles of respecting [the country’s] sovereignty and territorial integrity.”

According to the press office, Ali Asadov reiterated his support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The importance of the EU’s involvement in the implementation of infrastructure and energy projects was also emphasized at the meeting.
