Georgian President congratulates King Charles III on his ascension to British throne

Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili on Saturday congratulated King Charles III on his ascension to the British throne

“May his reign bring a new level of prosperity for his people,” the President tweeted.

On 10 September, Charles III was proclaimed king at the Accession Council ceremony at St. James’s Palace.

“I am deeply aware of this great inheritance and of the duties and heavy responsibilities of sovereignty which have now passed to me,” he said.

The ceremony was followed by gun salutes and the reading of proclamations in London and in the other capital cities of the UK – Edinburgh in Scotland, Belfast in Northern Ireland, and Cardiff in Wales.

The State Funeral of HM The Queen will take place at Westminster Abbey on Monday 19th September. Prior to the State Funeral, The Queen will Lie-in-State in Westminster Hall for four days, to allow the public to pay their respects, the Royal Family announced yesterday.
