Georgian President arrives in Iran, meets President Masoud Pezeshkian
The President of Georgia, Mikheil Kavelashvili, has arrived in Iran. The Georgian President was received at Mehrabad International Airport by the country’s Vice President, Seyed Hamid Pourmohammadi.
Following the formal welcoming ceremony at the airport, the Georgian President met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
According to the Administration of the President of Georgia, the President once again extended his deepest condolences during the meeting regarding the recent tragic events in Iran.
“During the meeting, the sides discussed the good-neighbourly relations existing between Georgia and Iran, alongside the bilateral cooperation agenda. They paid particular attention to the vital importance of establishing peace and stability in the region. Both parties underscored a partnership grounded in mutual respect and due consideration for each other’s sovereignty and national interests. The President of Georgia thanked the Iranian President for Iran’s consistent support of Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” the statement from the Georgian President’s Administration read.
According to the administration, as part of his itinerary in Tehran, the Georgian President will attend the funeral ceremony of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei later today. The ceremony will be attended by leaders from across the region, including Turkey, Azerbaijan, and Armenia, as well as dignitaries from various nations worldwide.
