“During the meeting, we also discussed trade, economic, and sectoral cooperation. It was noted that there is immense potential in this area, which must be fully capitalised upon,” stated the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, during a joint press briefing with the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić.

According to the Prime Minister, the ongoing process of drafting a free trade agreement between the governments of Georgia and Serbia is highly welcome.

“It must be noted that we have achieved great success in this process; there are only a few remaining issues to be resolved, after which both sides will be ready to sign the free trade agreement. This will be mutually beneficial for the economic development of our nations and will further deepen the economic ties between our countries. This agreement will create new opportunities for business, facilitate an increase in trade turnover between our nations, attract investment to both sides, and elevate our economic relations to a new stage.

We also discussed the importance of developing transport and logistics links. Georgia is an integral part of the Middle Corridor, and we are ready to deepen our partnership with Serbia so that the transit and trade potential existing between Europe and Asia can be fully exploited,” the Prime Minister stated.
