Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Gharibashvili and Chairman of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara Tornike Rizhvadze visited the Batumi football stadium in the Adjara region on Thursday.
The construction company Anagi installed a hybrid surface on the stadium and provided funds for it. The world’s leading British company SISPitches carried out works. The hybrid surface is an ultra-modern, high-tech product.
“Batumi Stadium will promote a healthy lifestyle, as well as the development of sports tourism in Adjara”, the Head of the government noted.
The stadium will host various cultural events in addition to sporting activities.
Prime Minister underlined that the stadium would host the UEFA U-21 European Championship finals scheduled for 2023. The stadium will also host the games of the Georgian National League in the Spring.
Batumi Stadium complies with Category IV of UEFA standards having the capacity to place 20,000 spectators. The design of the football stadium was inspired by the Georgian dance Khorumi.
Adjara government allocated 141 million GEL for the construction of the stadium. A total of 500 people were employed.
