Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Friday remarked on OSCE/ODIHIR’s recent document, calling Transparency Law ‘incompatible with democratic standards and human rights law.’
PM Kobakhidze stated that the very document “is not founded on legal reasoning and essentially repeats the Venice Commission conclusion.”
As the head of government pointed out, “the document stating that transparency is harmful cannot have legal value.”
“We all know that transparency is one of the most important European values, and transparency can’t be bad. Hence, the document claiming that transparency is bad has no legal validity for us; instead, we will operate per the principles upon which the European Union was founded from the beginning,” stated the Prime Minister.
