Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili met local governors on Tuesday. Projects to be implemented this year were discussed at the meeting. New initiatives were solicited by the Head of Government from local governors and specific instructions were issued thereafter.
PM got interested in the process of compensation payment to households affected by the natural disaster occurring in the country in January. As commonly known, 19 695 000 GEL was allocated with a decision of the Prime Minister of Georgia for the mitigation of its consequences in the affected municipalities. In addition, 1 470 000 GEL was also allocated from the Standby Fund of the Government for the payment of compensations to the eligible population.
Performance of the Regional Renovation Program was also discussed at the meeting. First phase under Stage One of the Program has been completed nation-wide. As a result, 564 buildings were entirely renovated, utility networks got streamlined and 92 parks or squares were renovated or built altogether. Program is progressing further and to this date 400 MLN GEL has been invested in the program.
In addition, performance of a sub-program enabling public work and employment of vulnerable groups of population has been discussed at the meeting as well. It was launched with PM’s initiative. Over 30 000 socially vulnerable persons got employed within the scope of the program from March 1, 2022 through January 23, 2023.
