Georgian PM meets CoE Secretary-General

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze met Secretary-General of the Council of Europe (CoE) Alain Berset in New York during the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

The discussion focused on the long-standing, fruitful cooperation between Georgia and the Council of Europe. The organization’s significant support for the country’s democratic development, the protection of human rights, and the rule of law was emphasized.

The PM reconfirmed Georgia’s commitment to the CoE principles and noted that Georgia would contribute to the development of dialogue and multilateral cooperation in the future.

Irakli Kobakhidze emphasized that the Georgian Government attaches particular significance to constructive dialogue with the Council of Europe and is ready to continue mutual-based cooperation with the organization.

Georgian Vice Prime Minister/Minister of Foreign Affairs Maka Botchorishvili, Government Administration Head Levan Zhorzholiani and Permanent Representative of Georgia to the United Nations Davit Bakradze attended the meeting.
