Georgian PM holds farewell meeting with Swedish Ambassador

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Monday held a farewell meeting with Swedish Ambassador to Georgia, Ulrik Tideström.

According to the government’s press office, the meeting focused on productive cooperation between Georgia and Sweden and Sweden’s support towards various directions of development in Georgia.

The PM stated that Sweden was one of the largest international donors of Georgia and it has hugely contributed to the democratic and institutional modernization of the country, as well as to its socio-economic development and advancement.

“The discussion touched upon the support demonstrated by Sweden in the journey of European integration of Georgia, which is particularly vital if taken into consideration in the context of Swedish chairmanship of the European Council.

Progress achieved by Georgia was also noted at the meeting, inter alia related to the positive trend of 12 recommendations and their implementation. According to the Prime Minister of Georgia, EU integration is the choice made by the Georgian people and the country is expecting the status of an EU Candidate Country.

Irakli Garibashvili expressed his gratitude to Ulrik Tideström for the support of sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia, as well as its EU integration and European reform agenda, thereby wishing him every success in future endeavors,” reads the press statement.
