Georgian PM congratulates new U.S. Ambassador on her swearing-in
Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia congratulated new U.S. Ambassador to Georgia Kelly Degnan on her swearing-in. Gakharia said that the arrival of a new Ambassador would add dynamics to the strategic partnership between the two countries.
“I am looking forward to working with you for the progress of Georgia’s European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations and adding more dynamics to the Georgian-U.S. strategic partnership,” Georgian PM wrote on Twitter.
Kelly Degnan has sworn in as the new U.S. Ambassador to Georgia at the U.S. Department of State on January 17. At the swearing-in ceremony, Degnan said that she felt “particularly honored to be selected as the U.S. Ambassador to Georgia, a country that shares America’s love of freedom and democracy.”
David Hale, the United States Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs attended the oath-taking ceremony.
The White House presented the candidacy of Kelly Degnan for post of U.S. Ambassador to Georgia in September of 2019. The Senate approved Degnan’s candidacy in December.
