Georgian peacekeepers return from Afghanistan

The squad of the First Infantry Brigade of the Georgian Defense Forces has completed its Strong Support mission.

According to the Ministry of Defense, a subdivision’s company led by Major Anton Kutateladze returned to Georgia from Afghanistan today.

The Ministry reports that the Deputy Commander of the Georgian Defense Forces – Chief of General Staff, Brigadier General Johnny Tatunashvili, and the Commander of the East, Colonel Roland Dzneladze met the Georgian peacekeepers at the Tbilisi International Airport. They thanked the peacekeepers for the successful implementation of the mission and congratulated them on their peaceful return to the homeland.

The squad participated in the ongoing NATO-led peacekeeping mission (RSM) in Afghanistan for six months. It ensured the security and protection of the Kabul base under US command.
