Georgian Parliament’s Foreign Relations Chair meets Azerbaijani Parliament Speaker

Nikoloz Samkharadze, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Relations, met with Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Milli Mejlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, according to the Parliament of Georgia.

The parties discussed bilateral relations between Georgia and Azerbaijan, focusing on their strategic partnership. Particular attention was paid to the strong political ties between the two countries and the steadily growing dynamics of parliamentary cooperation.

The meeting underscored the importance of unity amid a challenging international security environment.

A key topic of discussion was cooperation between parliamentary delegations within international organizations, as well as the significance of the trilateral format of the Foreign Relations Committees of the Georgian, Turkish, and Azerbaijani parliaments.

During the meeting, the sides also addressed the security situation in the South Caucasus, the importance of the Armenian-Azerbaijani peace process, and its potential impact on the economic development of the countries in the region.

The delegation of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Relations is on an official visit to Baku, where the annual tripartite meeting of the Foreign Relations Committees of the Georgian, Turkish, and Azerbaijani parliaments will be held.
