As part of an official visit to Canada, a Georgian parliamentary delegation, led by the Vice Speaker of Parliament and Head of the Canada-Georgia Parliamentary Friendship Group, Nino Tsilosani, met with the Speaker of the Parliament of Canada, Francis Scarpaleggia.

According to the Parliament of Georgia, the sides reviewed the friendly relations and partnership between Georgia and Canada during the meeting. They emphasised the vital role of parliamentary diplomacy in deepening bilateral cooperation and strengthening ties. Nino Tsilosani thanked the Canadian side for its unwavering support of Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

According to the Georgian Parliament, the discussions placed particular emphasis on Georgia’s geopolitical significance, its strategic role, and its unwavering commitment to a Western orientation.

“During our meeting with the Speaker of the Canadian Parliament, we had the opportunity to discuss Georgia’s geopolitical significance, the country’s economic potential, and the important role Georgia plays for both the European Union and the wider Western world. The Canadian side showed a great deal of interest in Georgia. I hope this interest will help to deepen cooperation between our two countries,” said Nino Tsilosani.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties expressed their readiness to promote bilateral visits and to deepen parliamentary cooperation even further.

The Georgian parliamentary delegation comprised: Vice Speaker of Parliament Nino Tsilosani, who also serves as Head of the Friendship Group with the Canadian Parliament; Mariam Lashkhi, Chair of the Education, Science and Youth Affairs Committee; Irakli Zarkua, Chair of the Diaspora Committee; Deputy Chair Gocha Enukidze; Viktor Sanikidze, Chair of the Sports Committee; and Giorgi Khakhubia, Deputy Chair of the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee.
