Georgian Parliament Speaker meets NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative

Shalva Papuashvili, Georgian Parliament Speaker met Javier Colomina, NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs and Security Policy and Secretary General’s Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia.

The Speaker thanked the NATO representative for his effort to contribute to Georgia’s NATO membership. He spoke about security challenges and stressed that under the current geopolitical situation, Georgia’s progress on the NATO accession path is significant.

Javier Colomina reconfirmed that Georgia is a reliable and worthy partner for the alliance and that NATO’s support is unwavering for Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.

Shalva Papuashvili also spoke about the progress in the fulfillment of 12-point priorities and expressed hope that the European Council would grant the country candidate status by year-end.

Javier Colomina welcomed democratic reforms and pledged that NATO would continue to support Georgia in the future.
