The 2024 Paris Olympics officially kicked off on July 26 with an opening ceremony at the city’s main river, the Seine. The delegations of participant countries engaged in the river parade.
Athletes arrived via boat and cruised down the Seine for the Parade of Nations. The ceremony highlighted historic Paris landmarks, including the Notre-Dame de Paris Cathedral and the Louvre.
Céline Dion closed out the night by singing “L’Hymne à l’amour” from the base of the Eiffel Tower.
This year, athletes from 184 countries will take to the world stage to compete in the 2024 Paris Olympics, which will unfold over a two-week period between July 26 and Aug. 11.
Twenty-eight Georgian athletes will participate in the Paris Olympics 2024.
Nino Salukvadze – the sport shooter, Giorgi Sardalashvili – judoka, Sandro Bazadze – a fencer and Ana Nizharadze – a swimmer will compete on July 27.
