Georgian National Museum opens international exhibition ‘From the Yellow River to the Caucasus’

The Georgian National Museum has opened the international exhibition From the Yellow River to the Caucasus: Bronze Treasures of China’s Shanxi Province, the Georgian Ministry of Culture reported.

The exhibition features 36 exceptional bronze artefacts from the collection of the Shanxi Museum, spanning nearly two millennia from the 16th century BC to the 3rd century AD.

Bronze Age culture played a pivotal role in the development of ancient Chinese civilisation, profoundly shaping the formation of the Chinese state, its arts, and its enduring cultural traditions.

“Exhibiting the Shanxi Museum’s collection in Georgia offers our public a unique opportunity to experience China’s bronze civilisation, one of the most significant chapters of world cultural heritage,” stated Grigol Tsertsvadze, Deputy Minister of Culture of Georgia, at the opening ceremony.

“Projects of this nature strengthen cooperation and friendship between our nations while fostering deeper cultural dialogue between Georgia and China,” he added.

The opening ceremony was attended by Davit Lordkipanidze, Director General of the Georgian National Museum; Zhou Qian, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Georgia; Ashot Smbatyan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Georgia; and Lang Yujun, Deputy Director of the Shanxi Museum.
